New Direction

I have had a number of things to blog about recently but nothing has made it into writing. Mainly becasue I've been really busy. But that's nothing new.

One of the big pieces of news is that I've bought a house. Now, I am no DIY guru. Have never put up a shelf. Can't rewire a plug, wouldn't know what to do with a blocked s-bend.

So naturally in choosing from the wide variety of houses there were available to buy in Auckland, I chose a rennovation. A total and utter, bare tacks, overhaul kinda scenario.

We're not talking a lick of paint, some gentle sanding and a new kitchen. We're talking all of that plus rewiring, reroofing, repiling, replumbing, replastering... re everythinging.

And this, as it turns out, leads to HILARIOUS consequences. Some of which I think the two people who still occassionally check this blog will find amusing and most of which I am keen to document so at the end of this project (which my Mum thinks is going to take about 10 years and I'm planning to have finished by October) I can look back and (hopefully) be astounded by my ignorance starting out and be stoked with my experience looking back.

Also I'd like to use this blog as a vehicle to out shoddy contractors and praise and recommend the excellent ones I'm sure I'm about to meet. Ha ha!

So there you have it. Stay tuned for photos of a work in progress and some documentation of the process.
